In order to promote academic exchanges and innovation in the College of Life Sciences of Hebei University, strengthen the cross-integration between various disciplines, improve the quality of postgraduate training, and create a good academic atmosphere, the 3rd Annual Conference of Graduate Students of the College of Life Sciences of Hebei University and the Xiong'an Life Science Forum were held in the main building of Hebei University 304 on December 20, 2021. Five members of the Global Change Ecology Laboratory participated in oral presentations at the Ecology and Environment Session.

With the theme of "Life and Environmental Health under Global Change", the opening ceremony of the annual conference was presided over by Professor Wan Shiqiang, Dean of the School of Life Sciences. The annual meeting specially invited Academician Wei Fuwen, researcher of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries, academician of the European Academy of Sciences and conservation biologist, Dr. Lai Cheng, researcher of the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and Dr. Lu Jian, researcher of the School of Life Sciences of Peking University, young scholar, and distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education Jiang Scholar, to give reports to the teachers and students of the hospital. Academician Wei Fuwen introduced the frontiers and research progress of conservation biology, researcher Lai Cheng described a variety of animal toxins and survival adaptation, researcher Lu Jian introduced the evolutionary mechanism and law of protein synthesis regulation, and teachers and students had face-to-face academic exchanges with experts.
Lingjie Kong, a doctoral student at the Laboratory of Global Change Ecology, gave a presentation entitled "Nitrogen addition does not alter symmetric responses of soil respiration along a precipitation gradient in a semi-arid grassland," and Qingshan Zhang, a doctoral student, presented "Mowing and phosphorus." addition regulate negative effects of nitrogen enrichment on legumes during the succession", and master's student Jiawei Hou gave a speech entitled "Nitrogen addition elevates the sensitivity of water-use efficiency to precipitation" variability in a temperate steppe", master's student Yali Li gave "Root turnover rate responses to shifts of growing-season precipitation peaks in a semi-arid grassland" and master's student Xueke Wang gave "Nitrogen enrichment changes." Mechanisms of community stability response to changing precipitation in a semi-arid grassland". PhD student Zhang Qingshan won the second prize, and master students Li Yali and Wang Xueke won the third prize.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Kang Xianjiang delivered a speech, saying that through the active exchanges between teachers, students and students, various ideas and understandings can burst out new sparks in the process of mutual exchange and enlightenment. At the same time, he expressed his encouragement and ardent expectations for the students, and presented awards to the winners. This annual meeting promoted academic exchanges, broadened the vision and disciplinary vision of the research group members, and fully demonstrated the excellence of the Global Change Ecology Laboratory.
